Visual Language

Aschehoug, one of Norway’s leading publishing houses, wanted to evolve its visual brand to reflect the depth, elegance, and human connection inherent in literature. This project set out to create a unique visual language for their website graphics and marketing materials, culminating in a short information film that brought these ideas to life in motion.

Collaberation

I led motion design and co-developed the visual concept, collaborating closely with an art director and photographer to craft a system rooted in minimalist forms and poetic imagery. Our process began with exploring the tension between abstract typography, light, and photographic textures – testing compositions that captured the feeling of words coming alive.

We iterated through moodboards, sketches, and motion tests to define a design language that felt both contemporary and timeless, echoing Aschehoug’s literary heritage.

Digital presence

The final output included a cohesive set of website visuals and an information film that animated the space between words and meaning. This work helped reposition Aschehoug’s digital presence, infusing it with a sense of craft and narrative depth. Beyond a brand refresh, it created a versatile visual foundation for future campaigns – bridging literature and design through intentional, elegant motion.
