Breif
VG, Norway’s largest newspaper, wanted to create a memorable year-in-review film that highlighted the defining moments of the year while staying true to its identity as a print publication. Instead of a conventional highlight reel, we developed a concept that brought the tactile nature of newspapers into the digital realm—creating a film that felt both unexpected and deeply authentic to VG.
Concept
I led motion direction and co-developed the concept, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to print each frame of a video sequence onto individual newspaper pages. We then captured each page being turned in stop motion, creating a seamless, rhythmic animation that blended the physicality of print with the pace of digital storytelling.
This meticulous process involved precise planning of frames, layout compositions, and shooting to ensure the final motion felt fluid, engaging, and true to VG’s brand.
Craft
The final film was shared across VG’s digital platforms as their official year-in-review piece, standing out for its craft, originality, and clever nod to the medium that built the brand. It reinforced VG’s role not just as a news source, but as a creative storyteller capable of reimagining how stories are told and remembered.
