The journey behind the journey

Explaining airport operations through clear, purposeful motion.

Brief

Avinor, the group responsible for Norway’s airports, wanted to educate travelers on what happens to their luggage after check-in and highlight how small passenger actions can have significant effects on baggage handling efficiency. This project aimed to create a clear and engaging information film that revealed the complex behind-the-scenes journey of baggage and the consequences of delays or mishandling.

Process

I led motion design and visual development, working closely with Avinor’s communication team to translate technical processes into an accessible narrative. Our process began with mapping the full baggage journey – from check-in to aircraft hold – identifying key moments where traveler behavior intersects with operational flow.

We developed minimal, friendly design elements and purposeful motion sequences to simplify complexity while maintaining accuracy and trustworthiness.

Education

The final film was used across Avinor’s digital channels, social media, and airport screens, helping build public understanding and empathy towards airport logistics. Beyond education, it reinforced Avinor’s brand as a transparent, human-centered organization committed to smooth and efficient passenger experiences.
